There are numerous exciting events and enthralling things to do in and around Cape Town each month. When spoilt for choice, choosing what to attend is often the hardest decision of them all. We’ve selected a few of our favourite events for March to help refine your options.
The Cape Town Cycle Tour
Every year, around 35 000 cyclists from all over the world join together to form the largest timed cycle event in the world, the Cape Town Cycle Tour.
Arguably one of the most picturesque routes in existence, the race starts at the foot of Table Mountain, heads around the peninsula to Simon’s Town through to Chapman’s Peak, along the Camps Bay strip, and ends in Sea Point.
Join thousands of spectators as they cheer on the brave participants on Sunday 10 March.
Galileo Open Air Cinema
A magical movie night not to be missed. Running from November through to the end of April, with various venues screening films from Wednesday – Sunday each week, the Galileo Open Air Cinema is a fantastic experience for all.
This month’s selection of movies includes Grease, Black Panther, Crazy Stupid Love, and Mamma Mia to name a few.
Curl up with a loved one and watch as the stars, both on screen and up the sky, unfold before your eyes.

Cape Town International Jazz Festival
With over 35 international and local acts performing across five stages, this event attracts in excess of 30 000 music lovers every year, making it the fourth largest jazz festival in the world, and largest in Africa.

Cape Town Carnival
An annual event, this extravagant parade through the streets of Cape Town is a celebration of creativity, diversity and community, an authentic insight into African identity and definitely worth watching for first time visitors to Cape Town.

First Thursdays
A fantastic opportunity to browse galleries, boutiques, and share a drink with locals as the streets of Cape Town come to life every first Thursday of the month. The majority of the action takes place on the streets surrounding Bree Street. Be sure to make a restaurant reservation if it’s dinner you’re after!
